The article focuses on the severe natural phenomenon of dzud, characterized by a combination of extremely low temperatures, snowstorms, and fodder shortages, which devastate livestock and Mongolia's economy. The attention is given to the humanitarian consequences of this disaster, such as mass livestock deaths, loss of livelihoods, and forced migration, especially to major cities like Ulaanbaatar. The efforts of international and national organizations to assist affected populations are examined, including cash transfers, the supply of fodder, and veterinary kits. The article analyzes the effectiveness of such measures based on examples from dzuds in various years, as well as the challenges associated with insufficient aid volumes and delays in delivery. The article emphasizes the importance of integrating forecasting mechanisms and improving response strategies to enhance the resilience of the population to climatic shocks.
