«Der storch hat sie ins bein gebissen» - how to teach students of language high school to use phraseological units

The article is devoted to the problems of teaching phraseological units to students of language high school. Learning phraseological units allow students to develop the vocabulary, to deep and improve their grammatical knowledge and skills, to meet the culture of people speaking the studied language, to enhance the connotative meaning of any utterance. We came up with arguments for phraseological units teaching in classroom environment by the method of "pleasure-reading" and presented the features and classification of phraseological units. Special attention was paid to the exercises aimed at understanding of "phraseological unit" as a language phenomena and effective use of phraseological dictionary, as well as to translational and non-translational methods for comprehension new meanings of idioms, practice of idiomatic expressions in language exercises, tasks and situations involving reading and discussing books.
