Criteria of elitism in value approach of the theory of elites development

The article describes the value approach to the study of elites. This approach explores the transformation of ideas about elitism criteria in the post-classical theories of elites’ formation. The criteria for classification of elite groups are determined according to the forms, which the contemporary social groups take (aristocratic, democratic, technocratic, and meritocratic elites).
