ESG-transformation as a factor of innovative management of a railway transport company

One of the trends in the modern world economy was the transition to the concept of sustainable development of organizations, taking into account the environmental agenda. The purpose of this work was to evaluate the implementation of the ESG approach as a factor of innovative management in a large railway company. In the course of the work, the works of researchers in the field of ESG approach, reports and strategic documents of Russian Railways, materials of consulting firms “SBS Consulting” and “PwC”, as well as regulatory legal acts in the field of sustainable development and ecology were studied. The ESG transformation of Russian Railways is associated with the introduction of high-tech developments in railway transport and infrastructure facilities, the implementation of projects aimed at preserving the environment and reducing the anthropogenic impact of man on nature. The holding company develops corporate social programs for employees to support their motivation and reinforce environmental habits, and improves its business processes and transport logistics. The company's application of the ESG strategy allows it to attract funds for impact investment and the development of “green” technologies. The sanctions pressure exerted by foreign countries on the Russian economy may affect the delay in the implementation of the Russian Railways ESG agenda, which is an undesirable scenario for the company.
