Once again about the importance of assessing the scientific activities of the regions

The article considers a long overdue task - the assessment of the scientific activity of the regions. When researching the scientific activity of the region, it is important that the emphasis should be directed specifically at scientific activity, taking into account regional peculiarities, and not included in the complex of any other assessments. Such assessments are currently carried out very little and, as a rule, using foreign bibliometric databases (until 2023 WOS CC and Scopus), while the most complete picture of the scientific publication activity of the Russian scientific community is presented in the Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI). The necessity of monitoring the scientific activity of the region on a regular basis was noted, which will allow monitoring scientific trends, predicting the development of the most promising areas, making a map of the scientific activity of the region and its place in the whole country. It is important not to make comparative estimates between the results obtained by region, since each region is unique and has its own characteristics.
