A retrospective analysis of the existing planning system in the Russian Federation is given, new ideology and organization of strategic planning in the country are introduced, introduced by Federal Law No. 172-FZ of June 28, 2014 "On Strategic Planning in the Russian Federation". A prospective system of forest planning is proposed, the primary unit of which is the current forestry plan, which is organically entered in the general 6-level system of forest strategic planning.
