The materials of geochemical studies in the Circumpacific region of the Cryolithozone in the North-East of Russia, made in the late 20th - early 21st centuries, allowed to characterize the natural sources of atmospheric methane in the given region. Among them: the output of free gas for coal and oil and gas areas, the emission of methane from the seasonally thawed layer of lakes and river flow weakly sleeves. The total area lan-sponding to the formation of the main volum of methane, released into the atmosphere about 150 thousand. km 3. From this area enters the troposphere, the scope of methane about 0.3 Tg or 42,1∙10 7 m 3/year. The main producer of methane - bottom formation of lakes, primarily thermokarst. Noted that almost all of the annual methane escapes into the atmosphere at the beginning of the warm period of the year when melting ice ponds and streams. Suggested that a similar mode of methane emissions into the atmosphere peculiar to all areas of the permafrost zone.
