European constitutionalism of 1848-1849 and electoral rights of citizens

The paper investigates the electoral rights of citizens in the context of European constitutionalism of 18481849. It studies the electoral rights of citizens in the French, Austrian, Swiss (based on the Federal Constitution), Danish constitutionalism, and in some variations of German and Italian constitutionalism of this period. The peculiarities of European constitutionalism, including the development of the electoral law in the period of 1848-1849, were determined by the political processes taking place in the European countries in the middle of the XIX century. It is established, that 1848-1849 is an important period in the history of European parliamentarism and constitutionalism, as it set the vector for further development towards the modern constitutional law.
