Dualism factor in the theory of ideology

The article outlines the principal approaches to the explanation of ideology, reveals the problems emerging during the study of the phenomenon. Special attention is paid to the factor of dualism in the theory of ideology that is an aspect which has not been detailed comprehended in contemporary theoretical thought. The paper reviews the examples of dualism that have already been described by the researchers. They are determination - independence, deideologization - reideologization, ideology as an expression of the historical development of social consciousness - ideology as a product of intellectual efforts of public opinion leaders, epistemological and ontological nature of ideology. It is noted that the factor of dualism describing the ideological processes is important for understanding the nature of ideology. In particular, dualism predetermines the availability of an alternative, the possibility (necessity) to choose, and, as a consequence, the development of appropriate criteria for decision-making and the influence of stakeholders on the process of their implementation.
