The assortment is the most important instrument of product policy, which has a significant impact on the efficiency of the enterprise as a whole. This article discusses the concepts of "assortment", "assortment", as well as types of product assortment and their content. The author formulates external and internal factors influencing the formation of the product range at the enterprise. External factors are formed in the environment of the enterprise. Internal factors arise in the enterprise itself. In their totality, the listed factors determine the breadth and depth of the assortment, which will most fully satisfy the needs of consumers.
