Planning factors for professional and career growth of young specialists: interdisciplinary approach

The article deals with one of the aspects of the most important problem of human capital development: the factors of planning the professional and career growth of young specialists. First of all, the article distinguishes between the concepts of “professional growth” and “career growth”; it is proved that the concept of “career growth” is broader and umbrella for the concept of “professional growth”. The authors use an interdisciplinary approach to substantiate the career models of an individual’s professional path, which include the following models: a manager, an expert practitioner, an entrepreneur, and an autonomous specialist. These models are based on traditional well-known types of building an individual’s career, professionally significant qualities and competencies necessary for the implementation of a particular model are described. Also in the article, based on the analysis of the results of studies of economists, teachers, psychologists, physicians, the factors of planning professional and career growth, the principles of successful professional and career growth of young specialists and, as practical recommendations, the barriers to professional and career growth of a young specialist are substantiated. The results of the study presented in the article will be useful to young professionals when planning their professional path, HR specialists, and everyone interested in the issue raised.
