Factors affecting population health in northern regions (the case of the Republic of Karelia)

The paper analyses medico-demographic situation in the region. Application of a special approach based on typification of municipal districts and urban okrugs in the Republic of Karelia by the scale of urbanization and by the character of industrial production development, made it possible to identify new trends in the impact of the natural, climatic, environmental and socio-economic factors on population health.
