The development catalyst for the domestic pharmaceutical market was the pandemic that began in 2020 against the background of COVID-19, which led to a multiple increase in demand for pharmaceutical and related products as part of the fight against the spread of the virus. The expected result of increased demand in the market was a significant, sometimes even speculative, price increase, especially in a number of areas. Despite the fact that by mid-2021-early 2022, the epidemiological situation was stabilized, prices on the pharmaceutical market remained at a fairly high level, which, in the context of a decline in living standards and real incomes of the population, led to a drop in physical demand. The study assesses the trends in the development of the pharmaceutical market in Russia in the period before and after the pandemic, to identify trends that have developed under the influence of the crisis phenomena of recent years and their causes based on market analysis in the period 2018-2022. It is established that In 2022, the Russian pharmaceutical market has maintained the trends of previous years associated with the growth of the value volume of the market to 2.57 trillion rubles, while the physical volume of the market has maintained a downward trend to 5.2 billion units. As before, the commercial segment is the central link of the pharmaceutical market, although the public procurement sector has shown a dynamic growth in value volume. Today, the physical basis of sales in the pharmaceutical market are locally produced generics, while the basis of revenue, as before, is made up of original imported drugs, which is due to their extremely high cost and often the lack of a more affordable and at the same time equally effective analogue.
