After the end of the pandemic, the development of the pharmaceutical market took a back seat, as the incidence rate of the population and, consequently, the need for medicines and related pharmaceutical products was reduced, and there was virtually no shortage. However, the political issue continues to have a significant impact on the development of the country’s economy, especially after 2022, and therefore the development of the pharmaceutical industry as an important element of national security is an urgent area of research. The study examines the main trends in the development of the domestic pharmaceutical market in the context of increased sanctions policy based on a retrospective analysis of data for the period 2019-2024. It was found that the main trend remains a dynamic increase in the price level for pharmaceutical products, since more than 60% of the drugs sold had an average cost of more than 500 rubles per package. According to the place of manufacture of pharmaceutical products, more than 65% of the total number of packages sold in 2024 were produced locally in the country, but at the same time, imported medicines still form the market value. The issues of developing domestic pharmaceutical production are still relevant, as key problems have not been solved – imported products account for almost half of the market.
