Pharmacological agents based on Calendula officinalis L.: prospects of application in veterinary medicine

The article summarizes and systematizes data on biologically active substances, pharmacological effects and the use of medicinal products based on calendula officinalis in humanitarian and veterinary medicine. The chronology and geography of 19 publications on the study of the chemical composition of calendula officinalis, 36 publications on the medicinal properties of calendula officinalis in veterinary medicine and 20 publications on the use of Calendula officinalis L. in humanitarian medicine were analyzed. It has been established that the chemical composition of calendula officinalis is diverse, and the pharmacological effects are multifaceted, which allows it to be used for various diseases. When studying the market of veterinary drugs based on calendula, it was found that among the 2.184 names of medicines registered in the State Register, only 8 contain medicinal calendula in their composition as active substances, which is only 0.37%. According to pharmacotherapeutic groups, medicines were divided into: homeopathic remedies - 2 drugs; antiseptic agents, glucocorticosteroids in combinations, dermatotropic agents, insecticidal agents, correctors of bone and cartilage tissue metabolism and ophthalmic agents - 1 medication for each. According to the application, these drugs have different purposes, but they are united by the presence of an inflammatory process in the pathogenesis of diseases.
