Non-biting midges fauna of genus Chironomus (Diptera, Chironomidae) of Daghestan state nature reserve protected areas

In the paper results of research of non-biting midges fauna of genus Chironomus (Diptera, Chironomidae) of Daghestan State Nature Reserve protected areas are presented. An annotated list of detected species is given, indicating the name of the species, the volume of material, localities, available information on the range of species, and available information on the ecology and biology of species. All in all, in the five studied territories of the reserve 11 species of the genus Chironomus has been found: Ch. piger, Ch. riparius, Ch. nuditarsis, Ch. balatonicus, Ch. usenicus, Ch. annularius, Ch. aprilinus, Ch. polonicus, Ch. dorsalis, Ch. sp. 1 (Kuden), Ch. bernensis. All the detected species were found earlier in the Central Caucasus, but for the fauna of the Eastern Caucasus are given for the first time. Detected species predominantly have holarctic and palaearctic distribution, and species that are prevalent mainly in Western and Eastern Europe are also present.
