The federal budget as an instrument of socio-economic development of the state: directions of budget spending

The relevance of this study is determined by the need to stimulate the socio-economic development of the Russian Federation in the context of modern challenges and threats. Stimulating socio-economic development today is extremely necessary for the Russian Federation, because its acceleration will strengthen the country’s position at the global level and ensure the stability of the state’s development. Since the socio-economic development of the country in strategic directions is financed from the federal budget, it is necessary to understand the effectiveness of existing items of expenditure of state financial resources, which will make it possible to determine the role of the federal budget in the process of enhancing socio-economic development. Today, public finances play a key role in ensuring socio-economic stability in the country. The study attempts to analyze federal budget expenditures in the context of three periods, namely for the period 2019-2021, 2022-2023, and 2024-2026. This made it possible to identify the directions of transformation of expenditure items, which made it possible to draw a conclusion about the role of the federal budget in the process of socio-economic development of the state. The federal budget directly affects the lives of citizens, so studying its role in socio-economic development allows us to determine which areas need additional funding and what measures can be taken to improve the lives of the population.
