Current genetic studies of depression and coronary heart disease strengthen confidence that this co-morbidity has a common genetic basis. This is data of twin studies, studies of gene polymorphisms of angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors, serotonin transporter and G-protein. Meta-analytic and genome association studies are the most conclusive ones.
