The article deals with informal employment at the labour market. The phenomenon is determined by the fact that most market elements function spontaneously, now and then outstripping response of the state regulating authorities. The informal employment appears at the labour market, on the one part, during the cutback of economic activity, and on the other part, in conditions of the transition period as was the case of Russia.
