The article attempts to compare the value orientations of the modern generation with the previous historical generations through the prism of meaningful images of their idols. It is interesting to find out the socio-cultural grounds and causes of the phenomenon of "Olga Buzova" as a generalized image of modern postmodern idols. The authors try to answer the question, what is the fundamental difference between the idols of modernity from the ideal role models in past eras? Why in modern society, personal popularity, along with education, income, power, becomes one of the most important social resources of man?
