Phenomenon of three “waves” of Russian abroad in science of culture

The article examines the historiography of the culture of the Russian diaspora of the XX century, according to the chronological principle of division into "waves", analyzes the specifi cs of refl ecting the problem of cultural emigration from Russia of the XX century in the works of researchers. The results of scientifi c works of all stages of the study of this period are summarized: pre perestroika, perestroika, 90s, modern. Conclusions are drawn about the cultural and historical factors that caused the process of cultural emigration from Russia of the XX century, methods and traditions of the depiction by Russian scientists of the culture of the "three waves" of emigration in the scientifi c literature. The research topics and approaches to the study of diff erent "waves" of emigration in Russian historiography are compared, the analysis of the evolution of the object of research in diff erent periods is carried out. The relevance and conceptual prospects of studying the history and culture of the Russian abroad are noted.
