The article presents the comparison of critical and apologetic discourse on the personality and the reign of Nicholas II, the awareness of tsarist power in the various circles of the society of the 20th century. The monarch and the attitude to him appear as a subject of social phenomenology, and the research supplemented by the linguistic discourse, therefore, extends the framework and becomes integrated and multifaceted.
