Based on the method of philosophical reflection and the historical genetic method we have investigated evolution and trends of neo-Byzantium and archeoavantgarde in Russian social and philosophical thought, using as examples the journalistic texts. The basic range of philosophical ideas of neo-Byzantium, prospects for the development of this trend are revealed. Neo-Byzantium is represented as a center of resistance to the society of total nihilism, into which humanity is descended, especially Western society. At the same time the philosophical thought of the neoByzantines raises the geographical position of Russia to the level of a symbol of the highest order. According to a number of critics, this strategy is presented as a formula of catastrophe, since the path of Eurasianism is the way of eternal confrontation, propaganda of Kwasnoy patriotism and policy of isolationism.
