The philosophical context of the novel by A. Chekhov "The Steppe"

Artistic concept of Anton Chekhov's story "The Steppe" was firstly determined by philosophical context and related to the literary and philosophical sources of various ages, from antiquity to the beginning of the XX century. Author analyzes typological and genetic ties of the text with the works of N. Gogol, V. Solovyov, D. Merezhkovsky.
