The article covers the financing of Russian political salons at the turn of the XIX-XX centuries. M. Leonov argues that P.A. Badmaev and E.V. Bogdanovich could obtain some monetary compensation for their political activity, using informal connections with the Russian emperor and high officials. The links in governmental circles provided them with solid income by means of paying out subsidies and pensions.
