In the article physical-geographical zoning is considered as a system of territorial division, based on the identification of objectively subordinated natural regions, is one of the most important sections of modern physical geography. Based on the analysis of modern landscape diversity, the representativeness of the federal network of specially protected natural areas (reserves and national parks) is estimated.
