Folklore materials as a source for the study of the Yakuts ethnography

The article is devoted to the history of the ethnographic study of the Yakuts in the 20th century based on folklore materials. The author makes particular reference to the role of the researchers in collection and study of folklore. The folklore is considered to be one of the most important sources for studying the traditional culture of the Sakha people.
