Formal-legal analysis of the treaty on commerce and navigation, concluded between Russia and the United States of America 6 (18 December) 1832

Introduction: The national interests of the Russian state are preserved in modern days. This determines our geopolitical role in the international arena, including in resolving international regional conflicts. The article provides a formal legal analysis of a significant legal act not only for the Russian state, but also for the United States, which constitutes the legal trade and economic base and contributes to the expansion of Russian-American trade relations. Materials and methods: The research materials were legal acts contained in the Complete Collection of Laws of the Russian Empire, as well as in the Collection of the most important treatises and conventions concluded by Russia with foreign powers, and scientific works of scientists studying the Russian colonies in North America. In the preparation of the article the following research methods were used: formal-legal, system-structural, historical-legal, interpretation of law. Results of the study: allowed to analyze, study and give an idea of an important legal document that reflected the economic development of the two powers. Summary and Conclusion: the author substantiates the conclusion that this legal act is the most important monument of law, located at the junction of historical, legal and international legal science, which is of scientific interest of formal legal nature.
