Formation of administrative-territorial institutions in the Trans-Baikal transboundary area in the XIX century

On the basis of a wide range of sources, which are introduced for scientific use for the first time, the article deals with the process of formation of the Trans-Baikal region. The authors present the models of administrative-territorial structure of the multinational remote area. It is shown that the governor-general body of the Eastern Siberia played great part in this process. It is concluded that there was historical necessity for reorganization of the Trans-Baikal transboundary area.
