The paper explores an issue of forming an officially adopted Soviet version on motives involving events in Kronstadt in 1921 upon Russian historical studies of the 1920-ies to 1950-ies. The study demonstrated how assessments of Kronstadt events evolved in Soviet historical studies of 1920-ies and 1930-ies. The paper has focused on the crucial impact of assessments made by Trotsky L.D., Lenin V.I. and Stalin I.V. on finalization of Soviet historical study tradition in interpreting the Kronstadt rebellion which further persisted without substantial changes throughout the Soviet period.
