The article considers approaches to the formation of the geospatial organization of the tourist process. It is established that the concept of economic and geographical research of the tourist process is based on a system-procedural approach, which is a combination of the principles of systemic and procedural approaches and allows us to consider the phenomenon as a continuous dynamic process of development and spatial-temporal coordination of structures in interaction with the conditions of a specific territory, fixed for each time slice by the corresponding forms of spatial organization, which are the markets of tourist services. It is proved that the multifactorial nature of the process of forming the tourist market determines its multicomponence with a tendency to permanent diversification of specific sub-markets, the structurality set by the functional characteristics of the tourism industry. It is established that the regulatory mechanisms of the tourist market are the circulation of money and information, regulated by marketing and state tourism policy, adjusted in accordance with the activities of international organizations of the tourist destination. It is determined that the territorial and economic subsystem forms the resource basis for the formation of the tourist market based on the use of the tourist, socio-demographic and economic potential of the territory. It is proved that the heterogeneity of the resource base determines the need for classification of tourist resources. The essential, activity, attractive, functional, value and ecological-economic approaches are applied to their classification.
