Formation and investigation of planar waveguide and periodic domain structures in lithium niobate crystals

This paper presents the results of investigation and formation of planar waveguide structures, as well as periodic domain structures (PDS) on the basis of a crystal of lithium niobate. PDS were formed by the electron beam as in undoped substrates of X and Y cut lithium niobate and in Zn: LiNbO3 and Ti: LiNbO3 waveguides, which had been previously formed on such substrates. The theoretical analysis was conducted and the efficiency of generation of waves at terahertz nonlinear conversion of light on the PDS in a symmetric planarwaveguide slot structure consisting of two plates of lithium niobate was evaluated.
