The article describes the history of the formation and development of the scientific book school at the Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts. It is noted that the evolution of the scientific and pedagogical school in the field of book studies is characterized by the following features: an integrative (metacognitive) approach to the issues under study, a high level of interdisciplinary exchange between book studies and numerous disciplines and socio-humanities; the growing interest in the history of book culture and the national book in the context of the independence of the Belarusian state, which determined the high activity of the scientific community in the field of historical and book studies; the desire for methodological construction of the field of Belarusian book studies in the context of communicative, cultural and axiological approaches, in the most complete form developed by L. I. Dovnar.
