The research analyzes the ethnic makeup of Slavyanskaya stanitsa (since 1958 the town of Slavyansk-on-Kuban, Krasnodar Territory) in the second half of the 19th - early 20th centuries. Based on archives and literature, the establishment of microcommunity in the aforementioned stanitsa is considered in detail. The study demonstrates the relationship of this process with the internal policy and global events (Armenian genocide in Turkey). The author concluded that representatives of the Slavic population predominated in the stanitsa. However, ethnic minorities became an integral part of society. They played a pivotal role in the economic life of the village and put themselves on record. The development of the ethnic makeup of Slavyanskaya stanitsa is exemplified by ethnic changes in Kuban region as a whole.
