Formation of moral and fighting qualities of the officers of the Russian army in the 18th century

The article discusses the conditions and characteristics of recruitment of the officers for the Russian army in the 18th century. Comparing the officer corps in the period of the creation of the regular army and at the end of the reign of Catherine II the author concludes that government measures resulted in the formation of highly professional officer corps, mainly Russians, that was morally and psychologically ready to protect the monarchy against external and internal enemies.
