The article examines the process of forming the image of Japan in the Soviet Union on the eve of world war II on the example of the West Siberian press of the 1930s. The study concludes that the image of Japan in the period under review was built within the framework of active anti-Japanese and anti-fascist propaganda, which was fully carried out on the territory of the entire Soviet Union at that time.
