Formation of psychological readiness of police officers to use firearms in real conditions

This article discusses the main issues regulating the formation of readiness of employees of internal affairs bodies to use firearms in real conditions. The main aspect considered in this article is the personality qualities that are necessary for law enforcement officers to competently use firearms not only in practical classes, but also in conditions of real danger to life and health. The activities of law enforcement officers often take place in tense, difficult conditions associated with the use of physical force, special means and firearms. The life and health of personnel in such situations largely depend on conscientiousness and professional skills (special, tactical, physical, fire and moral and psychological training), the police officers themselves. Performing their official duties, the employees of the Department of Internal Affairs have to withstand and overcome excessive physical and emotional stress, which characterizes the conditions of their activities as extreme.
