The article considers approaches to the formation of the regional market of tourist services. It is established that the economic mechanism of the tourist market is a system formation consisting of market levers that act automatically and regulatory elements. At the same time, regulatory elements formed on the basis of foreign experience, without taking into account regional peculiarities and key growth points, do not exercise proper regulatory influence. It is proved that the demand for tourist services is inelastic both in terms of price and income. This is confirmed by the results of research, according to which one of the main criteria for buying a tourist service is its quality. With this in mind, such non-price methods as improving the marketing policy of distribution and promotion should be applied at the micro level. It was found out that the balance of the economic mechanism should be assessed from the point of view of a separate business entity in the tourist market, since market and state levers determine the capabilities of business structures to carry out marketing activities, which significantly affects the level of supply and demand in a particular market, and, consequently, affects the effectiveness of the economic mechanism that creates prerequisites for the effective development of the tourism industry.
