The purpose of this article is to study the process of formation of Soviet people's courts in the Ishim district of Tobolsk (Tyumen) province in 1917-1923 on the basis of previously unexplored archival documents. The scientific novelty lies in the fact that for the first time, on the basis of historical sources not previously covered in the national historiography, the issues of formation, personnel formation, material support of the Soviet people's courts in the Ishim district of Tobolsk (Tyumen) province in 1917-1923 are considered. The aspect of the attitude of the Ishim to the Soviet people's court, as well as the effectiveness of the territorial distribution of judicial sites is reflected. The state of the people's courts of the Ishim district during the West Siberian peasant uprising of 1921 is also considered. It is established that the process of formation of the Soviet people's courts was interrupted due to the seizure of the County Kolchak. Ordinary citizens with no experience of justice were elected as people's judges. The population was extremely dissatisfied with the activity of people's judges, which was especially evident during the Peasant uprising of 1921. Many judges of the County were killed by rebels during the rebellion. Ishim, the courts have experienced financial problems: the courts rented a private house to carry out its activities, the salaries of the judges were late. There were also problems in the formulation of records management.
