Spiral beams synthesis by means of phase holograms

The spatial intensity distribution of spiral laser beams remains unchanged during propagation in the Fresnel zone. It may be in the shape of an arbitrary predetermined plane curve. Such beams have an orbital angular momentum, allowing their use as traps in optical tweezers. The results of high(quality formation of spiral beams with phase only spatial light modulator based on holographic approach are presented.
