In our days the educational standards of general education include the subject «Bases of religious cultures and secular ethics» directed to spiritual - moral education of children. The cultural approach to the course and its educational possibilities are considered in the article. The author studies the features, a specific character of teaching the subject; the necessary conditions for successful forming of tolerant behavior in this course are specified.
