Officials’ service records during the epoch of Nicholas I in the context of strengthening control over the Russian society

The article deals with a segment of the state policy of the Russian Empire represented in preparation of the service records for the bureaucracy. The author focuses on the stages of the service record development, evolution of its structure and content. The scientific relevance of the research is a complex interpretation of the service record as a phenomenon of the administration system during the epoch of Nicholas I.
