In the review of the monograph "English Confessional Philosophical Novel 1980-2000" (Rostov-on-Don, 2011) by O.A. Dzhumailo comes up actualization of "aesthetics of vulnerability" and "poetics of confession" at the turn of the XX-XXIth centuries, which made it necessary to correct the categorical assertions of post-modernism. Great significance of the crisis of perception of the world and self-consciousness of the individual in contemporary culture determine the "confessional plot" in the English novel. Three part structure of the monograph allows to trace the development of the researcher's ideas from general to specific, from content to form, from genre to the writer's creative individuality.
