New type of the Koguryo's defense survey on the republic of Korea

This article represents a new type of Koguryo's sites situated on the territory of the Republic of Korea. These sites are forts which have been researched by South Korea's archaeologists for last 10 years on the territory of the Seoul area. About 20 forts are situated in the strategically important positions on the two long low mountains. Obviously they had been used as a military (function of oversight and defense) outpost. They are walled by stone and sometimes by wooden paling, include constructions which were used as a defense towers. Archaeological findings are mostly armament and ceramics. Different utility structures which were necessary for good functioning of garrison were excavated on the sites. Also specified method of building basic constructions in the forts was observed and reconstructed. These types of forts author is classifies as the smallest walled Koguryo's settlement. Archaeological research of this type of forts, using annals helps to discover the history of the relationships between Three Kingdoms on the Korean Peninsula in the end of 5th - first half of 6th centuries.
