The functions of modern student communities

The article describes the social history of student communities, as well as the history of changes in their functions: from their appearance to the present day. An explication of the term «student communities» and analysis of the nature of relations in modern student communities in the framework of Ferdinand Tonnis sociological concept. In addition, the article the results of a sociological survey on the basis of interviews with students of Tomsk universities and chairmen of student communities of Tomsk are also presented.
