The author considers the semantic and functional heterogeneity of proper names. The article deals with various functional-semantic types of proper names: polyreferential names, monoreferential names and precedent names. Common nouns resulting from a full transition of proper names are qualified as deonyms. The result of full transition of proper names to the common nouns is qualified as a deonyms.
