The article deals with the social sector of popular science text and its principal constituents within the framework of the integral approach. The usage of lexical stylistic devices in Russian and English popular science texts on alternative energy sources is studied with respect to their universal and culture specific features. The study focuses on the use of metaphors in both English and Russian popular science discourse. The authors provide a thorough analysis of conceptual metaphor domains relying upon Anatoly P. Chudinov’s approach to discourse modeling. The study results in arranging the analyzed anthropomorphic, naturamorphic, sociomorphic and artifactual metaphors in systematized models with special reference to their frame-slot structure. By comparative analysis the authors reveal differences between the compiled models and explain them with reference to the data from cognitive and cultural discourse sectors.
