Gender and transcendent conflict in the works of N. Gumilev: neo-romantic transformation of «the eternally feminine»

The article analyzes the types of female images in the works of Nikolai Gumilev from the point of view of their correlation with the romantic idea of the “eternal feminine”. Each of these types of sets its conflict either between the hero and heroine, or between the earthly and transcendental existence. Specific character of the incarnation of the category “the eternally feminine” in the works of the poet is elicited and there is proved in the article that the internal antinomy and the ambivalence of female images are due to the neo-romantic dominant of author''s consciousness.
