Genetic control of chromosomes conjugation in plants of soft wheat

The genetic system of the control of chromosomes conjugation in soft wheat plants is considered. The nature of Ph gene appearance, the possible mechanisms of its action, the promoters and inhibitors of homoeologous chromosomes conjugation were described. The influence of accidental chromosomes on conjugation was analyzed. The induction of conjugation of homoeologous chromosomes by means of integration of foreign genes has a great attention and the information about achievements in this field was presented. The possibilities of the chromosomal and molecular engineering were discussed.
