Genesis of political leadership

The article examines various points of view both on the definition of leadership itself and on its origin. Currently, there are no unified approaches to the study of political leadership. The article discusses and identifies approaches to the definition of such terms as leadership, political leadership, and the main directions of the development of political leadership. Political leadership as manifestation of power and power relations is determined by historical conditions, the interests of various social forces and personal characteristics of people nominated for the role of leaders. The subject of our scientific interest is the problem of the institutionalization of political leadership, which stands out in the fact that the mechanism for selecting political leaders, their preparation for power and their very activities are carried out within the framework of specific institutions. All this requires special scientific research that reveals the general patterns of this process, which will allow us to talk about the existing ways of forming the modern Russian political elite. Leadership is carried out in specific historical conditions, in a given society, and is regulated by existing legal norms and social mechanisms. As a political phenomenon, leadership is an indicator of functioning of society, and its democracy.
